The temple of Amarnath is located in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. This temple is a lifeline for millions of devotees. The temple of Amarnath is situated in the form of a sacred cave. The length of this cave is 19 meters and the width is 16 meters while this cave is 11 meters high. The complete form of Lord Shiva is enshrined in this ultimate holy cave. This is the miraculous cave of Amarnath Baba. Here the snow forms a natural Shivling. Amarnath Yatra begins every year from the beginning of July and lakhs of devotees visit Baba Barfani.

Importance of Amarnath Yatra
Amarnath Yatra is considered to be the most difficult journey because it is present in very cold area and at very high altitude. The cave exists 135 km to the northeast of Srinagar and at an altitude of 13600 feet above sea level. Starting from the full moon of Ashadh month, the holy Shivling is seen till the month of Sawan. Shivalinga is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. You will be surprised to know that the size of Shivalinga changes as the Moon increases. Lord Shiva recited immortality to Goddess Parvati in this cave, hence the name Amarnath. It is said about the Amarnath Yatra that this yatra is destined only to the fortunate ones and the one who is blessed by Shiva is able to see him.


History of amarnath

The Muslim Ghadaria was first discovered in the 16th century by the cave of Amarnath. He told everyone and even today the fourth offering of the cave is offered to the descendants of that Muslim Gadaria.
It is said about the cave of Baba Amarnath that during the time when Lord Shiva was narrating the immortal tale to Goddess Parvati, a pigeon pair was also present there. Who became immortal after hearing this story. Even today, this pigeon pair remains in the cave of Amnath. While narrating the story, Lord Shiva left small infinite serpents in Anantnag and left Sheshnag of the throat at a place called Sheshnath. Shankar Ji brought the sandalwood of the forehead to Chandanbadi, all these places became sacred places since then and joined the journey of Amarnath.


Importance of Amarnath Cave

According to the beliefs of Hinduism, devotees visiting Baba Amarnath get 10 times more than Vishwanath of Kashi and 100 times more from Sangam Prayag and all their wishes are fulfilled.

Amarnath Temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths. Mata Parvati is considered to be one of the 51 great Shaktipeeths inside the sacred cave. Lord Shiva resides in this cave even today.
