During this month, making new beginnings or doing anything is considered to be very inauspicious and also not a good time for a fresh start. Kharmas is a month which is mentioned in the Hindu calendar. As per the beliefs, Kharmas month is considered to be inauspicious. Kharmas is known as Mal Mas is some parts of the country. We will see the first Kharmas this year that is in 2021, from 16 December 2020 to 15 January 2021. Whereas the second Kharmas month is going to be seen from 14 march to 14 April. The Kharmas month originally comes in the northern parts of India. Therefore Kharmas is celebrated in Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. And let me tell you that Kharmas month is not followed in the eastern, southern and western parts of India.

Avoidance during the Kharmas period –

At the time of the Kharmas month, some specific activities are strictly prohibited in the Hindu community. People do not start anything new for this one month or it can also be said that starting a new task in this month is considered to be very un favorable. Here are some activities that you should avoid during the Kharmas period-

Once the Kharmas is started you are not allowed to start any kinds of construction work, it can be a house construction or any other building. You should know that this also includes buying of raw materials for the house.

Auspicious occasions such as marriages, house warming or an engagement should be strictly avoided during this period.

The buying of any kinds of property or land should be avoided.

This time is also not auspicious to buy a new vehicle.

So what should be done during the Kharmas period?

It is widely believed that donating on the last day of the Kharmas month will bring you good results. You can give away food, jaggery and clothes to the needy in the form of donation.

Why avoid making a fresh start during Kharmas?

As it is believed that the period of Kharmas is very inauspicious, so starting anything new during this period will not give you good results. Because of this reason, a new beginning should be done at the end of this month. Those who do not follow the rules of the Kharmas month may also suffer from loss.
