The Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of the Margashirsha month is called the Mokshada Ekadashi. This Ekadashi is called Mokshada Ekadashi because it is the Ekadashi that destroys all the temptations. That is why it is named as Mokshada Ekadashi. God is worshipped in this Ekadashi with incense, lamps, roli, sandalwood, flowers, rice etc. With the impacts of this Ekadashi one can attain the heaven.

The process and Pooja method of Mokshada Ekadashi-

Following are the steps which is mandatory to follow during the Mokshada Ekadashi fast-

Step 1- before observing the fast of Ekadashi, one must consume food on the afternoon of Dashmi.

Step 2- you must not consume food on the night of Dashmi.

Step 3- wake up early in the morning on the day of Ekadashi and take a bath along with the resolution of the fast.

Step 4- lord the mother should be worshipped with all the rituals and guidelines.

Step 5- it is good if you stay awake during the night.

Step6- on Dwadashi, you must feed the needy and donate them clothes.

Things that should be avoided during the fast-

- do not consume rice or products made from rice as it distracts the mind.

-  do not live an immoral life. Satvik life helps a person to concentrate in his life. A man gets away from all the enjoyment.

- You should not lie and not be angry.

- stay away from malice, treachery, bad doings and lust on the day of fasting.

- avoid sleeping during the sunset.

The significance of Mokshada Ekadashi-

By observing a fast on Mokshada Ekadashi a person's ancestors can attain salvation. They get freedom from the arrival cycle of the world. All the sufferings of a man are destroyed. Madhav gave the message of Geeta to Parth on this day. It is also believed that in Hinduism Geeta Jayanti is also celebrated on Mokshada Ekadashi. The Bhagavad Gita is a great book. Our life gets inspired towards a new direction by studying the Bhagavad Gita. With the help of Geeta, a man becomes aware of the truth of life and moves towards and enlightenment. This is the reason that a man observes this fast in order to attain liberation from his actions.

Mythology

According to a legendary story, there was a city named Gokul Nagar in the ancient times. The king of the city was Vekhans. This past is associated with the dream of this king. One day the king had a dream that his father is suffering a lot in the hell and he is pleading his son to free him from here. The king gets very upset by this dream. In the morning he sets up a court and tries to find out the meaning of out of this dream. All the sages and Saints gathered there suggested that King to visit the sage named Parvat and ask him about this dream. Accordingly the king proceeds towards the ashram of the sage Parvat. There he married his dream to the sage who tells him to observe the fast of Mokshada Ekadashi in order to attain salvation for the ancestors and who are in hell will attain heaven. The king observed this fast with all the rituals and donated food and clothes to the brahmins. As a result, the king attained salvation for his father. This is the effect of the fast. Since then, it is customary to observe this fast. A person keeps this fast along with the wish to attain heaven for his ancestors.
