This is the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. This Ekadashi is the Ekadashi which destroys all The Sins, hence the name Papakunsha Ekadashi. It is considered to be best if you remain silent during this fast and remember God. By remembering God, the Mind becomes pure and a man attains wisdom. According to the Sanatana Dharma, by keeping this fast a man attains the same fruit as he receives from doing had penance.

The process and method of Papakunsha Ekadashi Puja-

The rules of Papakunsha Ekadashi Puja should be started one day before this fast. Following are is the process of the fast which should be followed appropriately-

Step 1- get up early in the morning before sunrise and take the resolution of the fast after your bath.

Step 2- worshipping of wheat moong dal, gram, rice, lentils extra should be done on the Ekadashi day.

Step 3- it is mandatory to establish the Ghat and worship Lord Vishnu on the Ghat.

Step 4- the Vishnu Sahasranamam should be recited.

Step 5- you must feed the brahmins and donate grains as well.

Things that should be avoided during the fast-

- 7 types of grains including wheat, moong etc should not be consumed on the day of Dashmi.

- Salt, oil and rice should be discarded on the day of fasting. It is considered to be a Taboo to use these items on that day.

- All kinds of female affairs are prohibited on this day. The female affairs divert the attention towards worshiping the Lord.

- avoid using bronze utensils.

- You should not say bad words on that day.

- avoid sleeping during the sunset.

The significance of Papakunsha Ekadashi-

During the time of Mahabharata, lord Krishna told Kunti Sun Dharma Raja Yudhisthira about the importance of this Ekadashi. According to Shri Krishna this is a sin destroying Ekadashi which means it protects men from his sins.  A man attainss salvation due to the effects of this Ekadashi. By observing this fast all sins of a man are destroyed. On this day everyone should do the pooja and worship and feed the brahmins and give them dakshina as well as staying without eating adds to its importance even more.

Mythology.

Everything is possible in front of God's illusion. He even ends the sins of villainess person if he redeems his sins with full devotion and honesty. According to a legendary story, there lived a fore wheeler on the Vindhya Mountain named Krodhan. He has committed all the wrong doings throughout its life such as violence, looting, stealing and drinking alcohol. During the last phase of his life when the Yamdur came to pick him up he informed him about his death one day before. The Paula became so afraid that he wanted to redeem his sins. For this he reached at the feet’s of Maharishi Angira. The Maharishi showed kindness looking at his frightened condition and told him a remedy to save himself. He advised him to observe the Papakunsha fast which he observed and attained salvation.
