Republic Day is celebrated as a national holiday in India. On this day is 26 January 1950 Government of India adopted replacing the govt of India Act (1935) and in this way, the nation was transformed into a newly formed republic. On this, our national flag is hoisted all over India in schools and offices. Even though this day is an official holiday, many schools organize events and students give speeches and participate in those events.
The Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India on 26 November 1949. And came into force on 26 January 1950 with a democratic system of governance, the country went on to become an independent republic.
26 January was chosen because in the year 1930 the Indian National Congress completed India and Swaraj was declared. For this reason, 26 January every year is celebrated as Republic Day.
It is known to us that on 26 January the president of India graces us by hoisting the national flag of our country and following that with our national anthem is sung by everyone. The national flag is saluted during that time. Republic Day is celebrated all over the country with great joy and especially it is celebrated with great enthusiasm in our capital Delhi. On this day on the Delhi’s Rajpath a grand parade is organized which starts from our India gate to the Rastrabahavan.In which there are various soldiers of our Indian Army, Air Force, Navy regiments take part in the parade. Children from all parts of the country come from the National Fungus Corps and various schools to participate in this ceremony.
It is an honour for everyone to participate in this national celebration. The parade starts and while it happens, the Prime Minister Amar Jawan puts a flower garland on the Amar Javan Jyoti and a two-minute silence is kept in memory of the martyred soldiers. It is the memorial of the sacrifice of those martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect the sovereignty of the country and kept fighting for the country. After this, the Prime Minister comes on stage with the Chief Guest.
Performances are organized by the people of various states in the parade, a feature of the people of every state, their folk songs and art are presented in the exhibition. The parade is broadcast on national television and is watched by crores of people in every corner of the country. Thus, in India, this National Day, Republic Day, also known as 26 January, is celebrated with great enthusiasm.
