The temple of Shanidev in Shinganapur, Ahmedabad, is built without any roof. Sheela of Shri Shanidev sits on a marble platform in the open sky. Which is 5 feet 9 inches long and 1 foot 6 inches wide. In all the seasons of summer, winter and rain, Shanidev stays in the open sky. It is said about the history of the temple that this temple is more than 500 years old.

Story of Shani Shingnapur
It is believed that once Shinganapur village received very heavy rains. Due to which there was a situation like flood. When the people came out after the rain stopped, they saw that a large sheela of stone was stuck on the tree. On seeing Sheela, the villagers were surprised how such a large Sheela came here. Sheela was strange, so a person stoned her. Due to which blood started coming out of it. Everyone was surprised as well as scared that what a miracle it is. The villagers tried to move her together but Sheela did not face the tussle. After which everyone went back home. It is believed that on the next night, Shani Dev appeared in the dream of a gentleman and said that Sheela will not wake up until a maternal uncle nephew will pick it up. He told the gentleman of the village that this is the sheela of my power. Install it in your village, all the problems will be solved.
Then that person said his dream to everyone in the morning and the villagers together got up that sheela from uncle's nephew and displaced it under the open sky in the village. Since then, Lord Shani Dev has special blessings in Shinganapur and this village is considered to be the village of Shri Shanidev.

Rules of darshan in temple
Most of the people in this temple of Sri Shanidev wear saffron colored clothes. Here, it is considered to be of special importance to add oil on the Sheela of Shani Dev. Many people also offer oil.

It is believed that one should go straight while entering the temple. Even if you make a sound, you should not look back and forget it. After worshiping God, go straight out. If someone looks back even by mistake, it is considered inauspicious and has a bad effect.

There is a huge crowd of devotees here on Saturday. Devotees from far and wide offer oil on the Sheela of Shanidev. Aarti is offered here everyday at 4:00 am and in the evening at 5:00 pm and Shani Dev Jayanti is celebrated with great pomp. On the birth anniversary, there is a festive atmosphere throughout the village.
