Shravan Putrada means the Ekadashi which provides you with a son. This Ekadashi falls on the Shravan month of the Shukla Paksha. According to the Sanatana Dharma, it is believed that a person who keeps the fast of Shravan Putrada Ekadashi by following all the rules then the person shall attain the fruits equal to the Vajpayee Yagya. According to the story of the fast, all the sins of a person are washed away by mere listening to the story.

The process and Puja method of Shravan Putrada Ekadashi-

Following are the rules which should be followed on the day of Ekadashi-

Step 1- get up early in the morning during the Brahma Muhurtha and wear clean clothes.

Step 2- light a lamp in front of Sri Narayana.

Step 3- offer fruits and sesame seeds to God.

Step 4- on the day of Shravan Putrada Ekadashi, you must stay without consuming food. After the evening Puja, you can consume fruits.

Step 5- you must read the Vishnu Sahasranamam on that day.

Step 6- the people who are observing the fast should stay awake at night.

Step 7- you must break your fast after giving food to the brahmins on the next day of Dwadashi.

The significance of Shravan Putrada Ekadashi-

The Shravan Putrada Ekadashi is considered to be a very significant day in the Sanatana Dharma. A person who observes this fast by falling all the rituals and rules attains the blessing of having a child which leads him to the happiness of childbearing. Observing this fast washes away all the sins of a person. To end the mindlessness of a person and to attain a good amount of money this fast is performed.
 

Mythology

There used to be a king named MahijIt in the city of Mahishmati during the beginning of Dwapara Yuga. King MahijIt had no sons. He used to suffer a lot from this anxiety. His Kingdom also appeared to suffer in front of him. There is no happiness without a son in both in this life and hereafter. The king made many efforts to attain a son but he was unsuccessful in all his efforts. As the king was getting old so did his worries. One day the king revealed his problems to his people. To this problem of the king, the ministers went to the forest and asked many great sages and monks about the solution to this problem. All the sages ask the ministers to go to Maharishi Lomesh. When these ministers reached Maharishi he asked them their problem. The ministers explain the whole thing while introducing themselves to the Maharishi. The ministers who were happy and sad in the kings please urged him to give a solution to this problem and guide them and expressed their desire to get a solution. The Maharishi said that this king was very poor in his previous life and did many bad deeds. He used to drink a lot and room from one place to another. On the afternoon of the Shravan Putrada Ekadashi, this king was very thirsty when to drink water to a river. A cow was drinking water over there. The king removes the cow from there and started drinking water himself. This act of the king was not according to his religion. Based on the fruits of his previous life the king is suffering in this birth because of these sins no child was born to him. Maharishi told that if the kings loved ones and all the other people observe this fast of Shravan Putrada Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha by following all the rules and guidelines then the king will get the happiness of childbearing. According to the guidelines of Maharishi, all the subjects of the King observed the Shravan Putrada Ekadashi fast. As a result, the queen gave birth to a beautiful son. Since then the name of this Ekadashi came to be known as Shravan Putra the Ekadashi.
