According to the history of Hindu Calender, the place of Vikram Samvat in Panchang has always remained very important. Vikramsamvat was regarded as the most accurate calendar for calculation. This calendar was made in 75 BC in the kingdom of Raja Vikramaditya due to which it is known as Vikram Samvat calendar. According to this calendar the trend of 12 months in one year and 7 days in one week was started but currently in India the Gregorian calendar is authorised. It is very unfortunate for India that after independence today we are unable to accept our own calendar and is is following English calendar. In Nepal which is our neighbour country, Hindu calendar is used which is also known as Vikram Samvat calendar. Since independence India has changed so much that Hindus have forgotten their Vikram Samvat calendar and are using English calendar.
