Kamika Ekadashi

Kamika Ekadashi falls in the Krishna Paksha of Saavan month which usually occurs in July / August. This time, Kamika Ekadashi is falling on August 04. Lord Vishnu is worshiped during Kamika Ekadashi and by observing this fast, you can be free from all sins and troubles. It is known as the best period to worship Lord Vishnu and fulfill his wishes. This Ekadashi is scheduled to happen on August 4 in 2021.

Importance of Kamika Ekadashi

Kamika Ekadashi has great importance in Hinduism; Keeping this Ekadashi can help you get rid of Pitra dosha and helps in attaining Moksha. People take holy baths in holy rivers and donate clothes and food. Therefore, it is said that fasting on this day is equivalent to performing an Ashwamedha yagna.

By worshiping Lord Vishnu during the auspicious month of Sawan, you can also worship Gandharvas and Nagas. If you want to please Lord Vishnu, then you should offer Tulsi leaves to the Lord while worshiping because Tulsi leaves are loved by Vishnu.

Ritual for Kamika Ekadashi fast

On this day, one should wake up early in the morning and take bath and offer flowers, fruits, panchamrit, milk, and sesame to Lord Vishnu.

Observe your fast with honesty and trust; Chant the name of Lord Vishnu and perform bhajan. There cannot be a better day to wear Vishnu Lakshmi pendant to seek blessings from Lord Vishnu.

Also it is very important to donate something to the needy. Take food only after providing food to the Brahmin and giving Dakshina.

Story behind Kamika Ekadashi

Once, Yudhishthira asked Lord Krishna about Ekadashi and its importance in the month of Sawan. Lord Krishna replied that he would narrate the story which Lord Brahma had told to Naradji earlier. Ekadashi which falls in the month of Sawan is known as Kamika. And only by mentioning it, one attains the fruits of performing Vajpayee Yajna. The blessings one gets from worshiping Lord Vishnu cannot be attained even when bathing in the holy waters of the Ganges, Kashi, Pushkar, or Naimisha. Praying to Lord Vishnu on this day is like donating the entire earth and those who observe the fast are blessed with the same blessings that a milch cow, among other things, gets after donating.
