Pradosha Vrat is a fast observed by the Hindus during the time of evening. Pradosha Vrat is also known as Pradosha Vrat. Let me tell you that the entire fast which is kept by the devotees is dedicated to one or other diabetes. Similarly this Pradosha Vrat is especially dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Devotees of Lord Shiva observe this fast with endless bliss and prosperity. Pradosha Vrat brings spiritual upliftment and good health to you. There are many people who dedicate this fast to Natraja which is a form of Lord Shiva. This fast is celebrated by Hindus during the evening. In 2021 the Pardosha Vrat is likely to fall on the 10 and 26th of January.
The Pradosha Vrat can be observed by people of all ages and sexes. People from different parts of India observe this fast with full dedication and devotion. This fast is observed in the honor of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
In some parts of India, devotees worship the Natraja form of Lord Shiva on this day. There are two methods of fasting on Pradosha Vrat according to the Skanda Purana. In the first method devotees keep a complete fast throughout the day and night and in the second method the fast is kept from sunrise to sunset and in the evening it is broken after worshipping Lord Shiva.
The word Pradosha in Hindi means 'related to evening'. This holy fast is celebrated during the evening hence the name Pradosha Vrat. It is believed that on this auspicious day of Pardosha, lord Shiva feels very happy and generous after meeting with Parvati according to the Hindu mythology. Therefore the devotees of Lord Shiva observe this fast and worship him to seek his blessings.
On the day of the Pradosha Vrat, the evening period, that is just before the sunrise and sunset, it is considered to be very auspicious. During this time all the devotees’ worship and offer prayers.
The devotees take a bath and prepare themselves for the worship, an hour before the sunset.
When the worship is carried out where Lord Shiva along with Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha, Lord Kartik and Lord Nandi is worshipped and where Lord Shiva is work worshipped. Along with this, a Kalash is offered. This Kalash is placed on the grass of Darbha on which there is a lotus and it is filled with water.
The Shivalinga is also worshipped in some places. The shiva linga is bathed with sacred substances like milk curd and ghee. Devotees offer ‘bilva patra’ on the shiva linga. A picture or painting of Lord Shiva is also used by some people for worship. It is considered to be very auspicious to offer bilva leaves on the day of Pradosha fast to Lord Shiva.
The devotees on this day listen to Pradosha Vrat Katha or read stories from the Shiva Purana after this ritual.
After the pooja is completed water is taken out of the Kalash and devotees apply Holi Ashes on their foreheads.
After this most of the devotees visit the temples of Lord Shiva for his darshan. It is believed to be very fruitful to light a lamp on Pradosha Vrat.
