On the day of Saraswati Puja, devotees worship the Hindu goddess Saraswati and seek blessings from the goddess. As well as Pitra Tarpan, ancestors are also worshiped on this day. On this day young children start going to school because it is considered very auspicious. A wreath is offered to please the Goddess of Knowledge.

 

Yellow has special significance on this day and people usually wear yellow clothes and also make colorful sweets. The girls also wear bright yellow clothes and offer sweets, fruits, roli, molly and yellow flowers to Goddess Saraswati. Cultural programs are organized at night.

Saraswati Puja is a gazetted holiday in India. All public banks remain closed on this day. Celebrations are celebrated with great enthusiasm in schools and colleges on Saraswati Puja.
