The most famous of the great men, Belur Math is located in the city of Kolkata, West Bengal. It is a major tourist destination. There is also a samadhi of many great men and a temple of Ramakrishna. Let's know the history and complete information of Belur Math

history
Vivekananda's goal was to train young men. Who became a monk of the Ramakrishna Mission. He spent the last days of his life in Belur Math. He worshiped the urn of the ashes of Shri Krishna Dev Paramahamsa in 1898. After the tomb of Rama Krishna, Vivekananda traveled throughout the country as a monk. Moved to America in 1893. Delivered his famous speech in the Dharma Sabha there. 1897 returned to India and Vivekananda established the Ramakrishna Mission as soon as he came to India. The aim of the Ramakrishna Mission is 'Atmano Mokshaya Jagadhitaay Ch' which means the path to our salvation and the means for the welfare of the world. 4

Belur Math Temples
There are 8 temples in the Belur Math complex. The first temple is Ram Krishna Temple. Which was built in 1938.
 
The second temple is the main temple of Ramakrishna Dev, which is very old. The third is the chamber of Swami Vivekananda. It is said that Swami Vivekananda used to live in this room.
 
The fourth temple is the Swami Brahmananda temple. Where Swami Brahmanand ji was cremated. This temple is built at the same place.
 
The fifth temple is the Sharda temple which is present near the bathing ghat of the Ganges. The construction of this temple was completed in 1921.
 
The sixth temple is the temple of Swami Vivekananda. The construction of which was completed in 1924. The temple of Swami Vivekananda is two storeyed. The first floor of the temple has a marble emblem of Om. The temple is located in the same place where Swami Vivekananda's last rites were performed. Swami Vivekananda had died in Belur on July 1902.
 
The seventh temple is the Samadhi Peeth. Where 7 of the 16 ascetics of Sri Ramakrishnadeva were cremated.
The eighth is the old monastery which is built to the south of the Belur Math on the banks of the Ganges.

Visitation time at Belur Math
The time from April to September and October to March are considered to be the best time to visit Belur Math. During this time, darshans are performed in the temple from 6:00 am to 11:30 am and darshan timings have been set from 4:00 am to 7:00 pm in the evening. A special bell starts ringing here in the evening. This involves the audience coming from far and wide. Aarti is performed here after ringing of the bell. It is considered a great privilege to join Aarti. The temple is closed once a week on Mondays.
