This temple was built by a businessman named RN Shetty. He was a great philanthropist and a devotee of Shiva. The merchant built a huge statue in the temple. Which can be seen clearly even from a great distance. It took more than 700 days to build the Shiva statue.
Legend of Murudeshwar Temple
The Murudeshwar temple is considered to be of the Ramayana period. Once a devotee of Shiva and the king of demons, Ravana was taking the soul of Shiva with him to Lanka to attain the immortality. Ravana did not bear the weight of self-immolation and placed him at this place. Due to which that self-immolation of Shiva was displaced at this place. When Ravana tried to lift the Atmalinga again, he could not even move. Due to this, atmaling is still established here.

The height of this temple is 123 feet. The main gate of the temple is called Gopura. Statues of two huge elephants are also installed at the gate. Which makes the temple even more beautiful and attractive. The entire surface of the temple of Murudeshwar ji has been intricately and hugely carved and the garbhagriha has also been made with great beauty.
Worship and visit time in the temple
The best time to visit the Murudeshwar temple is considered to be from May to October. However, there is a lot of pomp here in Shivratri in February. A large number of devotees visit Shivratri and the entire Murudeshwar bomb resonates with the cheering of Bhole. The temple is opened for darshan from 6 am to 1 am. Worshiping is done from 6.30 am to 7.30 am and the time has been set for Rudrabhishek from 6 am to 12 pm. In the evening, darshan is done from 3 pm to 8 pm and the evening arti is done at 7 pm.
