During that time Aurangzeb also passed an order to make Hindus Muslims and the mosque was demolished and the mosque built, which is known as Gyanvapi Mosque. The temple later fell under the India Company and in 1809 the Hindus of Kashi captured the Gyanvapi mosque built by demolishing the temple. On 30 December 28 August, the then District Magistrate of Banaras wrote a letter to the Vice President in Counseling, ordering the Gyanvapi place to be given to the Hindus. But even today this dispute is going on.
